Freshman year

Freshman year was fun in many ways. I liked all my teachers, also all the teachers listened and helped get my work turned in for the most part, I liked it when we worked in groups, and freshman academy helped me get around the school. All my teachers were nice and helped me with my homework when I needed help with it. When I didn't understand something my teachers listened to my questions and helped me understand what I was supposed to do. I think groups helped me because when I didn't understand something they could help me so the teacher didn't have to. Freshman academy was a good idea because it helped me find my way around the school and I loved the team that I was on. Freshman year was good for me and I can't wait for next year =)

How does animal farm apply to our everyday lives?

The book Animal Farm that we are reading in english class applies to our everyday life in a lot of ways. One example is in the book it talks about how the animals act like everything is alright but actually they are making plans to over throw the farmer. That applies to our lives because teens today do the same thing they say everything is okay but actually its not and they cant wait to be free from their family. Another example is that the farmer in the book heard noise coming from the barn and instead of going out and seeing what was going on he just shot at them and that seems to happen today kids want to be heard and the parents shoot at them figuratively speaking. So far the book is good and i want to see what happens next.

What is the co-existence between Muslims and Jews?

The co-existence between Muslims and Jews is not good. It all started after WWII when the United Nations gave Isreal a part of land that was primarily inhabited by Muslims. Alot of Muslims protested violently against Isreal, and eventually the Muslim nations united and attacked Isreal hoping to drive them out. The Muslims did not win however, and ever since, there has been great hostility between them.

Islam

Intro.

Islam is a very popular religion today. There is about 1.3 billion people that follow this religion. The two major places this religion is found is in the Middle East and in North Africa.

Founder.

The founder of this religion name is Muhammad. Muhammad was a trade merchant from Arabia. He founded this religion in 622c.e.

Sacred texts.

The sacred texts include the Qu'ran and the Hidith.

Religious Holidays.

Their holidays include the Ramadan its one month long. The Eid al-fitr which is the festival of breaking the fast. Then there is the Hijra and it is one week long. The last one is the Eid al-Adha this holiday is the festival of sacrifice.

Religious/Customs.

Their rituals or customs are based on the five pillars of Islam. These include the confession of faith, The ritual prayer, the alms tax, fasting during the month of ramadan, and the pilgrimage to mecca.

Particular dress/Clothing.

Their colors and style very throughout Islamic culture.

Hierarchy/Organization.

There is none.

What dog gets used the most?

The number one dog used in dog fighting today in America is the American pit bull terrier. They are used because they are smaller than the bull terrier. Other dogs such as german Sheppard, and doberman pinschers were also used in fighting. Those dogs were reported to be "bait dogs" which those dogs train the other dogs to fight and become tougher. Like when dog fighting first came to America which was around the 1860s. Also it tells you where the dogs come from also the different levels of fighting such as street, hobbyist, and professionals. it tells you how the dogs were raised and trained. there is a bunch more things on that website so enjoy.

animal abuse

The website I looked at was about animal abuse. The website was pretty much about what kind of animal abuse there is. I looked specifically at dog fighting. The dogs that fight are mainly pitt bulls, they are trained to last a long time in a fight. The dogs that fight either get seriously injured or get killed. People that show up at dog fights range from teachers to lawyers to veterinarians who get paid a fair amount of money to treat the dogs after the fight. What is a community?

As a part of team 3 I am excited to be blogging this year on the topic of co-existence. A community is a group of people who share the same characteristics, a group of people who live together or a big city. My community is an ok community we aren't the biggest but we are also not the smallest. My community is the quad cities. The Quad Cities is three cities put together which are Moline, Davenport, Bettendorf, and Rock island. These cities are in Illinois and Iowa in the U.S.A.
